An Apple a Day

It's apple season in Minnesota. My mom is the best baker I know so I thought I'd share one of her apple recipes.  Enjoy!

Deanna's apple crisp
Serves 8-12

You will need:
6-10 large Honey Crisp Apples
3 tablespoons each cinnamon and sugar

Oatmeal crumb topping:
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 cup Quaker instant oatmeal
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2/3 cup of butter

Mix topping ingredients in large bowl, set aside.


Fill 9x13 baking dish about 3/4 full with peeled, cored and sliced apples
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of the apples (to taste)
Top with oatmeal crumb topping
Bake at 375 for 40 minutes or until apples are fully cooked.
Serve warm with cinnamon ice cream
